I study the properties and environments of "superluminous" supernovae, a rare class of transients with luminosities up to 100 times those of regular supernovae. This involves working on our Pan-STARRS transient search and spectroscopic follow-up trying to find these rare events, as well as studying their host galaxies using data both from ground-based observatories and the Hubble Space Telescope. When not doing astronomy, I enjoy hiking, yoga, cooking and singing.
